Footwear brand Vagabond Shoemakers has kicked off the new season with a bang having just opened an official Vagabond concept store via Tmall.
The company said that it’s aiming to expand within the Asian market via the powerful marketplace, starting with a selection of the AW23 Collection.
The Varberg, Sweden-based shoe label — which also moved into clothing for the first time last year — is available in more than 45 markets at present, including key markets such as North America, the UK and most European countries.
But Asia is its big growth target for this season and it’s no surprise it’s chosen to open via the Chinese online shopping platform as it’s one of the world’s biggest marketplaces and and has huge awareness in the country that’s key for cracking the luxury market generally.
Saying it’s a “huge step” for the firm, CEO Anders Odén added: “We see a vast interest in our products from all corners of the world, and we focus on local market adaptation, not the least to avoid unnecessary freight for sustainability reasons.”
It also recently launched a partnership with a a new distributor in South Korea and the brand is available through a variety of retailers in Japan.
