Bach Mai’s debut runway show at the The DiMenna Center for Classical Music drew front row guests including Kate Beckinsale, Misty Copeland, Lola Tung, “Joy Ride” star Sherry Cola, Joy Sunday, pianist Chloe Flower, “The Idol” star Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Minnie Mills, who accompanied the designer to the CFDA Awards in 2022, when he was nominated for American emerging designer of the year.
“I’m just such a huge fan of Bach’s, and we definitely share our love of ballet,” Copeland said before the show, wearing a strapless aquamarine dress by the designer. “I was pregnant the last time that he dressed me, and he made me feel beautiful, elegant and comfortable in my skin. I’m just so happy to support him; he’s an incredible person and a beautiful designer.
The principal ballerina is gearing up for a busy fall season — offstage.
“American Ballet Theatre is gearing up for the fall season at the Koch Theatre at Lincoln Center, but I am not dancing this season,” said Copeland, noting that instead her time at the moment is dedicated to several other projects.
“I have my activewear line that’s launching in October. It’s part of Greatness Wins, which already launched last year with the men’s line. It’s with Derek Jeter and Wayne Gretzky and myself. So I’m focused on that, and my production company,” she added. “We have our film ‘Flower’ that premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. It’s doing the festival circuit right now. And my foundation — that’s about to celebrate its one-year anniversary of our signature program. So I’m very busy.”
