Ebay is set to open on Friday a new pop-up Authentic Streetwear store in New York City, on Canal Street, a longtime hub for bootleg, counterfeit and gray-market goods.
Dubbed ‘Canal Street Wear’, the location will give consumers access to genuine items from top Ebay sellers, all verified by Ebay’s Authenticity Guarantee service.
The store opens with merchandise curated from some of Ebay’s top-rated sellers, including NYMilan, RIF, and Soled Out Jersey City. Shoppers can explore the latest releases as well as coveted classics, such as the iconic Supreme Morrissey T-shirt, classic Off-White hoodies, Nike x Comme des Garçon sneakers, and various Aimé Leon Dore New Balance sneakers.
Additionally, the store features sought-after pieces from frequently counterfeited brands like Bape, Louis Vuitton, Chrome Hearts, and more. Shoppers can also bring their own streetwear items for on-site authentication by Ebay’s team of streetwear experts.
“Enthusiasts go to Ebay to find every drop from the past few decades, from late ’90s Supreme and the Virgil era Louis Vuitton, to younger brands like Palace and Aimé Leon Dore,” said Charis Marquez, global VP of fashion at Ebay.
“Expanding Authenticity Guarantee to streetwear brings peace of mind that every item is the real deal and furthers our efforts to make Ebay the most trusted destination for streetwear. Canal Street Wear highlights Ebay’s incredible selection and commitment to authenticity.”
The streetwear industry is currently estimated to be worth over $180 billion, and Ebay has witnessed a significant surge in global searches for streetwear, with an increase of more than 150% since the start of this year.
Most recently, Ebay has also enhanced its fashion category, with the expansion of Ebay Authenticity Guarantee and the acquisition of Certilogo, an AI-powered authentication provider.
