Iconix International Inc. announced on Monday the acquisition of streetwear brand Hoodrich, in a strategic partnership with the brand’s founder, Jay Williams.
As part of the partnership, Iconix and Hoodrich aim to propel the streetwear brand to new heights by expanding its global reach. The collaboration will leverage Iconix’s expansive network of licensees to introduce Hoodrich to new markets and product categories, while maintaining the brand’s headquarters in Birmingham and Watford.
In conjunction with the acquisition, Iconix is set to collaborate closely with Batra Group, entrusted with handling business operations, and JD Sports, a key global retail partner in the venture.
“We are excited about the incredible opportunity to grow Hoodrich with this outstanding group of best-in-class partners,” said Bob Galvin, chief executive officer, Iconix International Inc.
“The brand is extremely well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for lifestyle streetwear with an authentic brand story. We are committed to bringing this high-quality brand to an even bigger global audience and to expand on Jay’s commendable journey so that Hoodrich continues to be not just something, but something great.”
Launched in 2014, Hoodrich is recognized as a leading lifestyle streetwear brand, boasting a presence in over 1000 retail outlets across 24 countries and a robust direct-to-consumer e-commerce business.
Most recently in 2022, Netflix approached the brand to collaborate on an exclusive collection celebrating the second season of the gritty British show, Top Boy.
Williams, who maintains ownership interest in the brand, added: “I’m really excited about the future of Hoodrich and can’t wait to grow the brand internationally. I think this is the perfect partnership for Hoodrich and I’m looking forward to working alongside Iconix and Batra, who will be a major support system for the global growth of the brand”.
